The Mount Airy Branch Library is expected to open on or about April 1 following a nearly three month renovation project, which has closed the library for the last month.
The renovation project, which started Jan. 6, will include a new layout with additional study areas, more flexible meeting spaces, and a combined information and checkout desk.
Although the library will be closed through the end of March, it will continue offer limited service of pick up of holds in the large meeting room on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m.
Improvements to the library are being funded through the Library Capital Grant Program, Division of Library Development and Services, Maryland State Department of Education, and matching funds from the Carroll County Commissioners.
The cost of the renovation is $314,000, according to Carroll County Public Library communications manager Lisa Picker.
Before coming to the branch, library staff advises residents to call or check online to ensure it is open.
