The Mount Airy Branch Library will close for a month beginning in mid-February for interior renovation.
The renovation project, which started Jan. 6, will include a new layout with additional study areas, more flexible meeting spaces, and a combined information and checkout desk.
It is too soon in the renovation process to know the exact dates for the month-long closure, according to Lisa Picker, Carroll County Public Library communications manager.
In addition to the month-long closure, the library might need to close for a day or two at a time throughout the renovation process. The library advises patrons to call or check online to ensure the branch is open before visiting this winter.
Improvements to the library are being funded through the Library Capital Grant Program, Division of Library Development and Services, Maryland State Department of Education, and matching funds from the Carroll County Commissioners.
The cost of the renovation is $314,000, split between the state and county, Picker said.
