The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified the victim in Sunday's fatal house fire in Mount Airy as Nancy H. Bullock, 75.

According to a news release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Bullock succumbed to smoke inhalation injuries during the blaze that caused an estimated $200,000 in damages.

Her husband, Robert F. Bullock, was able to escape the fire without injury before the first arriving engine from the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Department, fire officials said.

Investigators have determined that the fire started in the first floor living room of the two-story home, but the cause of the fire remains undetermined, according to the release.

No working smoke alarms were found in the home.

More than 50 firefighters responded to the fire at 2806 Flag Marsh Road, which was reported at 8:14 a.m.
