Hampstead, Manchester schools to close three hours early Friday

Carroll County Public Schools will close eight schools in the Hampstead and Manchester area three hours early Friday to avoid adding to the significant traffic expected along Route 30 for the viewing of Baltimore County Police Officer Jason Schneider.

Schneider was shot and killed Wednesday while serving a search-and-arrest warrant at a Catonsville home.

Schneider's funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church on Hanover Pike in Manchester. A viewing will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel on Charmil Drive in Manchester.

The following schools will be closing early:

•Ebb Valley Elementary

•Hampstead Elementary

•Manchester Elementary

•Manchester Valley High

•North Carroll High

•North Carroll Middle

•Shiloh Middle

•Spring Garden Elementary

Evening events and community use of the schools will be unaffected.
