An overturned trash truck has closed a section of Route 30 between Hampstead Mexico Road and Main Street in Hampstead.
The trash truck overturned while traveling through the traffic circle at the intersection of Hampstead Mexico Road and Route 30 shortly after 2:15 p.m, according to Hampstead Police Capt. Jay Gribbin
Gribbin said the driver of the vehicle was rescued from the truck and flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
The driver was conscience when pulled from the truck, according to Gribbin.
There were no other vehicles involved in the accident, he said.
A hazardous materials team was called to the scene to clean up spilled diesel fuel and as of 4 p.m. the road was still closed.
Gribbin said the accident was expected to be cleared by 4:30 p.m.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
