A Finksburg man is facing multiple charges after he was caught in the act of burglarizing a Finksburg home Friday night, according to a Maryland State Police news release.
Police said 21-year-old Kyle Gist, of the 2900 block of Clubhouse Road in Finksburg, has been charged with second degree burglary, fourth degree burglary, theft less than $1,000, theft less than $100, and malicious destruction of property.
He was taken before a Carroll County court commissioner for an initial hearing and is being held on $25,000 bond, according to police.
Troopers from the Westminster Barrack received a call for a burglary in progress just before 11 p.m. Friday in the 2000 block of Suffolk Road in FInksburg, according to the release.
After surrounding the scene, police realized the suspect fled the scene and canines were used to search the area. Gist was found at a nearby residence on Spencer Road and arrested without incident, police said.
The Maryland State Police Aviation Command also responded to the scene to assist with the search, according to police.
Members of the Criminal Enforcement Division are currently assisting the investigation and investigators are looking into similar incidents that may have occurred in the area.
