Route 91 in Finksburg expected to be closed until noon

Route 91 in Finksburg at the intersection of Old Gamber Road is expected to be shut down in both directions until noon after a three-vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer Friday morning, according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the area at 5:20 a.m. when a tractor trailer traveling southbound struck the rear of a Honda Civic before crossing the center line and hitting a Volkswagen Jetta, according to Col. Phil Kasten.

The driver of the Jetta was taken by helicopter to Shock Trauma in serious condition, Kasten said.

There were no other injuries reported, he said.

According to the Sheriff's Office preliminary investigation, the Honda failed to stop at the intersection of Old Gamber and Route 91. The vehicle pulled onto Route 91 where it was then struck by the tractor trailer, Kasten said.
