Soda bottle bombs found in front of Sykesville homes

The State Fire Marshal's Office is seeking information on who placed "soda bottle bombs" in front of three Sykesville area homes over the weekend.

Between 2 and 4 a.m. Sunday, unknown suspects placed the devices on sidewalks in front of three Sykesville area homes on Purple Martin Court and Conan Doyle Road.

A "soda bottle bomb" is a device that explodes after pressure builds up inside the bottle from chemicals placed inside.

The remains of the soda bottles were discovered by the homeowners later that morning and no damage was reported, according to the Fire Marshal's Office.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the State Fire Marshal's Metro Regional Office at 888-214-7892.
