A flashing traffic signal at the intersection of Liberty Road and Exchange Drive in Eldersburg will be converted to full-color operation Wednesday morning, the Maryland State Highway Administration announced in a news release Tuesday.
The signal, at the entrance to Liberty Exchange, a new 40-acre business park for office, retail, and flex space, will be converted at 10 a.m.
St. John's Properties, the developer of the business park, installed the signal in fall 2011, and it has been in flash mode since that time, according to SHA.
Projected traffic volume from the development warranted the switch to full-color activation, and the cost of the new traffic signal was paid for by the developer, according to the release.
Electronic message signs have been placed along Liberty Road, informing drivers that the signal will begin operating in full-color mode Wednesday.
SHA advises motorists to use extra caution in the area over the next few weeks as drivers adjust to the new signal.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
