Sykesville man designs winning poster for Maryland Wine Festival

The poster design by John Kachik, of Sykesville, has been chosen from a field of 34 for this year's annual Maryland Wine Festival scheduled for Sept. 21 and 22 at the Carroll County Farm Museum in Westminster.

Kachik used hand-line drawing and Photoshop for his poster design.

It includes a Maryland vineyard landscape and a young woman, grapes and bottles of wine. Sections of the Maryland flag and colors pulled from the flag add a local flavor.

Submissions by Natalie Clapp, of Baltimore; Rebecca Cool, of Frederick; Greta Roy, of Eldersburg; Brady Senyard, of Mt. Airy; and Joseph Silovich, of Frederick were runners-up.

Kachik received a check for $1,000 and the runners-up receive free tickets to either day of the festival.

The six designs are on display at the museum's administration office.

The museum is located at 500 South Center Street, Westminster
