Eldersburg National Night Out postponed until Aug. 13

Eldersburg's National Night Out activities have been rescheduled because of rain. Scheduled for Aug. 6, the Eldersburg "National Night Out Against Crime" has been rescheduled for Aug. 13, according to a news release from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

The activities will begin at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department Company's Carnival Grounds.

National Night Out activities in New Windsor are still scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the New Windsor Fire and Hose Company Carnival Grounds.

This year’s “Night Out Against Crime” marks the 30th anniversary of the national event, which serves to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in local anticrime programs, and send a message to criminals that the community is organized in a policing partnership against crime.  Each year more than 37 million people participate in the “Night Out” according to the program founder, the National Association of Town Watch, according to the release.
