Sykesville's last Sunday Porch Talk canceled

The Gate House Museum is canceling its last Sunday Afternoon Porch Talk, which had been scheduled for Oct. 14.

The Sykesvillle museum had six of them since summer, with speakers including Gate House Curator Jack White, former nurses from Springfield Hospital, former Mayor Jonathan Herman and local authors — all to shed light on the historic town’s history.

B&O Railroad Historical Society archivist Al McEvoy was going to be the last speaker, to talk about B&O and the society’s archives located in Eldersburg.

The Gate House Museum can be reached by phone at 410-549-5150 or via email at gatehouse@sykesville.net for any questions. Information about upcoming events and updates can be found on its website: https://www.sykesville.net/2157/Gate-House-Museum-of-History or Facebook page.

The museum is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Fridays and Sundays.
