Taneytown man found guilty of armed robbery charge

A Taneytown man was sentenced Tuesday after he was found guilty of armed robbery.

Robert Wayne Knight Jr., 24, of the unit block of Commerce Street, was sentenced to 15 years with all but three suspended, to be followed by five years supervised probation.

Knight pleaded not guilty, but was found guilty by Judge Fred Hecker in Carroll County Circuit Court on Tuesday of armed robbery, robbery, theft between $100 and $1,500, and illegal possession of ammunition.

The incident occurred on Dec. 5, 2017, and Knight was indicted by a Carroll County grand jury on March 15, according to electronic court records.
