A Taneytown woman has been charged with home invasion and armed robbery after she and a male allegedly broke into a Westminster home Wednesday morning.

Cassie Rose Jacobson, 27, of the unit block of Grand Drive, is charged with one count each of armed robbery, home invasion, first-degree burglary and first-degree assault — all felonies — and one misdemeanor count of second-degree assault, according to electronic court records.

Around 6:08 a.m. Wednesday, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home on the 1000 block of Hilltop Drive for a report of an assault, according to charging documents.

Police were met by the residents of the home and their friends and relations in a vehicle who told police Jacobson and a male companion had broken into the home after one of the relations had allegedly refused to give Jacobson and the man money to buy marijuana, according to charging documents.

Jacobson and the man allegedly reached through a hole in the front door to unlock it, entered the home and began threatening the people inside, holding knives to their necks and, at one point, slicing the hand of another male, a friend of the residents, who had been called to help after it was clear there was a break-in, according to charging documents.

After a fight in which Jacobson’s male companion was relieved of his knife, that male and Jacobson fled and called 911 to report having been assaulted “in an unprovoked manner,” according to charging documents.

Jacobson and the male were arrested and taken to Carroll County Central Booking, according to charging documents.

Jacobson was released Thursday after posting a $2,500 bail, according to electronic court records, and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Aug. 3 in Carroll County District Court.

No one picked up at the number on record for Jacobson when called for comment.
