A Manchester man has been charged with assault following an alleged incident at a home in Manchester Thursday evening.
Dwayne Lynn Halteman, 33, of the 2800 block of Westminster St., is charged with one count of second-degree assault, according to electronic court records.
According to charging documents, around 7:40 p.m. Thursday, Manchester Police responded to a home for a call of an assault.
A woman at the home told police that Halteman had allegedly grabbed her body and scratched her arms in an attempt to grab her cellphone, according to charging documents.
Halteman told police that he and the woman had been in an argument and that he had tried to grab the phone, but had not put his hands on the woman, according to charging documents.
Police noted in the charging documents that the woman had visible scratch marks on both of her arms and a cut on one of her fingers, according to charging documents.
Halteman was arrested and taken to Carroll County Central Booking, where he was released on his own recognizance on Friday, according to electronic court records. A trial is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Sept. 19, in Carroll County District Court.
When reached by phone Friday, Halteman declined to comment on the case.
