The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Sunday night.

The Sheriff’s Office, along with fire and EMS personnel, were dispatched to the area of Francis Scott Key Highway and Stone Road for a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle just before 9:30 p.m. Aug. 5, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

The motorcyclist, a 37-year-old man from Littlestown, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene when fire and EMS crews arrived.

Early investigations show the motorcycle was heading north on Francis Scott Key Highway approaching the intersection on Stone Road, according to the release. The other vehicle — a Ford F-350 that was towing an equipment trailer — was heading south on Francis Scott Key Highway and making a left onto Stone Road.

At that time, according to the release, the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the equipment trailer, causing the driver to be ejected from the motorcycle.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the release. Anyone with information on the collision or anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Master Deputy Devivio at 410-386-5900.
