MidAtlantic Farm Credit, a local agricultural lender announced Tuesday that it set an Oct. 31 deadline for those interested to register for its AgBiz Masters Educational Program.
Developed by Dr. David Kohl, an agriculture professor at Virginia Tech, the AgBiz Masters teaches new farmers the how-to’s of the agriculture industry so they can develop a successful operation, a Farm Credit press release said.
“The agriculture industry is evolving at a rapid pace, and we’re excited to see growing interest from a new audience,” Tom Truitt, CEO of MidAtlantic Farm Credit, said in a statement for the release. “Our AgBiz Masters program is perfect for anyone considering a career in the field, or for those who may just want to learn more about how to effectively run their operation.”
Boasting close to 12,000 members through Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, MidAtlantic Farm Credit is a member-owned lending cooperative that offers loans for land, equipment, livestock and crop insurance, among other options, according to the release.
AgBiz Masters employs interactive online workshops and face-to-face seminars hosted by agriculture industry experts, the release details.
Farm Credit said in a release that the program covers agricultural trends, leadership skills and a host of business subjects — financial management, basic financial statements and lending decisions.
Registering for the next course, which begins in November and continues through March, costs $225. However, those who complete the program are eligible for reimbursement, per the release.
