District 2 town hall meeting to discuss North Carroll's future

Commissioner Richard Weaver announced Thursday he will be holding a District 2 town hall meeting in October.

The town hall meeting will provide an opportunity for area residents to meet with the District 2 commissioner and discuss various county topics, including the North Carroll High School facility, NextGen911 and a possible charter school plan, Weaver said.

“We will be following up [on the meeting Commissioner Doug Howard, R-District 5, held]. We have people interested in a charter school, we sent a letter to the governor for the NextGen911,” he said.

“Plus we have a host of other topics. People might be interested in the Freedom Plan, Carroll Transit System, roads.”

Although a Thursday news release stated the meeting would be held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, it was changed within hours as a result of conflict. It will now be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at the North Carroll Branch Library at 2255 Hanover Pike, Hampstead.

“It’s because my constituents will not be available, not me,” Weaver said, “and they need to be there.”

One major conflict is that evening’s Planning and Zoning Commission meeting in Hampstead.

There will be time for a question-and-answer session with Weaver.
