Finksburg man charged with assault

A Finksburg man was arrested Friday after he allegedly struck a woman.

Matthew August Balaz-Ogle, 30, of the 2300 block of Sandymount Road, was charged with one count each of first-degree assault and second-degree assault. He is being held without bond following a Monday bail review, according to electronic court records.

According to the statement of probable cause, Deputies of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence for a reported assault and were met by a woman with visible injuries, including abrasions and bleeding.

She said that following a verbal argument, Balaz-Ogle had struck her multiple times with a closed fist and struck her with his foot while she was on the ground, according to the statement.

A court date is scheduled for Aug. 29.
