Beakes named president of OPS

John Beakes III, of Westminster, was named president of Operational Performance Solutions Inc., headquartered in Westminster. OPS provides Lean Process Improvement services to government, manufacturing and healthcare organizations.

Beakes has focused on operational performance improvement, with particular emphasis on developing leadership, teamwork and problem solving to enable an organization to achieve superior performance and a culture of continuous improvement. Currently, Beakes is leading Lean trainings and continuous improvement projects for the City of Baltimore and for Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He also led the Lean training program for more than 250 executives, directors and managers at a 5,000 person, multi-hospital healthcare organization, and the training and certification of 20 process improvement facilitators for that organization. Additionally, he served as a highly effective Lean Specialist on the Lean Process Improvement Project in Sterile Processing for a 411-bed hospital in Virginia.

In late 2008, Beakes co-founded Operational Performance Solutions as general manager. The OPS board of directors promoted him to vice president of operations in December 2010. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University, a Master of Arts in organizational management from the University of Phoenix, and a Master of Science in management with a specialization in healthcare administration from the University of Maryland. He is a certified Lean Facilitator, holds certificates in Lean Manufacturing and Project Management, and achieved his Lean Bronze Certification.
