Forecast: More rain, flash flood warning

The National Weather Service was calling for showers and possibly a thunderstorm in the Baltimore area on Thursday, with a high of 82 degrees and east winds of 3 to 8 miles per hour. The chance of rain is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts of between half an inch and three quarters of an inch are possible.

The weather service has issued a flash flood warning for much of central Maryland until 8:45 a.m. and a flood warning for urban areas in central Maryland until 10 a.m. It notes that many creeks and streams are near or above their banks and still rising.

In addition, a coastal flood advisory is in effect for the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay and the tidal Potomac River until 8 p.m. Thursday. A coastal flood watch has been canceled.

Thursday night was expected to be rainy and cloudy, with a low about 69 degrees and east winds around 6 miles per hour. The chance of rain is 70 percent.

Friday was expected to be mostly cloudy with lingering showers and thunderstorms, a high near 83 and north winds of 6 miles per hour becoming westerly. The chance of rain is 50 percent.

Friday night was expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 70 and west winds up to 5 miles per hour. The chance of rain is 40 percent.
