Four people were displaced as a result of two separate fires in Anne Arundel County Tuesday afternoon.

After 6 p.m., smoke and fire were reported coming from the roof of a two-story single family home in the 8000 block of Big Pool Road in Maryland City, fire department officials said. No injuries were reported, but two adults and a juvenile were displaced.

The fire, which was under control at 6:30 p.m., caused $10,000 worth of damage to the home. The department is still investigating the cause.

Less than 15 minutes later, firefighters responded to a kitchen fire at a mid-rise building in the 7800 block of Gordon Court in Glen Burnie, according to a release. One resident was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Fire officials said the fire was contained in the apartment of origin, and was accidental in nature. The incident caused $12,000 in damage.
