Traffic: I-895 backed up due to emergency roadwork

State transportation officials said that the right traffic lane and shoulder on Interstate 895 South in Baltimore City are closed on Thursday morning due to Wednesday emergency roadwork.

The state Department of Transportation reported the road closed at 7:19 p.m. on Wednesday. The Maryland Transportation Authority said the road is expected to be closed until at least Thursday afternoon.

MdTA reported heavy congestion with backups at the Harbor Tunnel toll plaza on Thursday morning and encouraged motorists to use I-695 or I-95 as alternates.

State DOT said that a three-vehicle collision on I-95 South prior to the I-695 exit had closed the southbound right shoulder at 9:06 a.m.

DOT also reported debris on MD 2 North in Lothian at MD 258 at 7:07 a.m. No additional information was given.

And all lanes remain closed on MD 648 in Anne Arundel County from Old Mill Road to Catherine Avenue due to emergency roadwork that began on Wednesday, DOT said.

The Maryland Transit Administration reported minor MARC train and light rail delays at 9:03 a.m.
