Most incidents that prompted road closures during Tuesday morning's commute were cleared by 8:50 a.m. except for a utility problem on MD 140 South in Garrison that has kept the southbound shoulder closed at Greenspring Valley Road since Monday morning.
Backups are expected to persist through rush hour on Interstate 83 in Timonium, where a southbound accident with injury involving an overturned vehicle disrupted traffic in both directions for about an hour, according to state highway and police officials.
State Police officials said that the driver of a vehicle along I-83 South past Timonium Road suffered a medical emergency and lost control of her vehicle. The resulting accident closed the left traffic lanes and left shoulders in both directions of I-83 at 6:58 a.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.
But at 7:56 a.m., the State Highway Administration reported that all northbound lanes on I-83 had been reopened and about four minutes later SHA reported that all lanes had been reopened.
The Maryland Transit Administration reported at 8:52 a.m. that trains and buses were running on schedule.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
