Traffic: Trash collector struck on Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills

A member of a trash collection crew was struck on Tuesday morning while crossing Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills and has been transported to Maryland Shock Trauma with life-threatening injuries, according to Baltimore County Police.

Police spokesman Cpl. John Wachter said that at 6:24 a.m. police and fire personnel responded to a report of a male pedestrian believed to be in his 50s struck at the 11400 block of Reisterstown Road. The initial investigation, Wachter said, indicated that the man was crossing Reisterstown Road when he was struck by a Toyota Highlander that had been traveling southbound.

Wachter said the motorist remained at the scene.

All lanes on Reisterstown Road between Hammershire Road and High Falcon Road, which had been closed since 6:47 a.m., were reopened by 8:30 a.m.

The incident was among several on local roadways that led to lane closures during Tuesday morning's commute.

All outer loop traffic on Interstate 695 has been closed at the Jones Falls Expressway in Baltimore County at 9:02 a.m. due to a collision, DOT said.

A utility problem on MD 26 West at Langrehr Road in Milford Mill has closed both westbound lanes and the westbound shoulder since 4:43 a.m., DOT said. The center turn lane is bi-directional, DOT said.

The transportation department reported a collision in Baltimore City on Interstate 83 south at Cold Spring Lane at 8:55 a.m. No additional information was given.

Also in Baltimore City, police have blocked the right lane on the northbound Hanover Street Bridge due to an incident involving a storm drain cover at 7:55 a.m., according to the Baltimore City Department of Transportation. Traffic impact is moderate, city officials said.

The Maryland Transit Administration reported buses and trains running on schedule at 9:12 a.m.
