As of 9 a.m. Monday, the Maryland Department of Transportation was reporting most major incidents of the morning have been eased.
An accident on southbound I-95 at I-195 in Baltimore County that had been affecting travels lanes is now off to the shoulder.
Traffic on the outer loop of the Beltway at Harford Road has largely cleared out, according to MDOT cameras, but there is still some heavy volume on the west side at Liberty Road heading toward the Security area.
One new issue is on southbound Camp Meade Road (Route 170) at Transmission Court in the Linthicum area. Emergency roadwork there has both southbound lanes closed, so northbound lanes are serving traffic in both directions.
The Maryland Transit Administration is reporting buses and trains are running on schedule.
Today is the first day of school in several jurisdictions, and even as rush hour subsides, commuters should be on the lookout for school buses as well as students waiting at bus stops, and remember to use caution and patience for buses that are stopped to pick up passengers. According to Maryland law, traffic in both directions must stop when school buses are stopped for passengers on two-lane roadways and on four-lane roads where there is no median.
Regarding schools, one city school will be closed today — Midtown Academy is closed due to a water main break.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
