An accident involving two tractor trailers and a car that shut down all lanes on Interstate 95 South near Arbutus for four hours on Thursday morning is gradually being cleared, as one of four southbound lanes and one of two southbound shoulders have opened, according to the state Department of Transportation.
One tractor trailer overturned on the roadway during the accident, and emergency responders called to the scene about 4:09 a.m., transported the driver of the car to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to a Baltimore County dispatcher. DOT reported all lanes closed up to 8:45 a.m.
The crash was among three incidents on I-95 that snarled morning commute traffic. A two-vehicle collision on I-95 North prior to the Baltimore Beltway exit closed one of two northbound shoulders at 9:03 a.m., DOT said.
And in Baltimore City, a disabled vehicle on I-95 North at the Fort McHenry toll plaza has closed one of 12 toll lanes at 8:50 a.m., DOT said.
On the railways, the Maryland Transit Authority reported minor delays on the MARC rail at 9:08 a.m.
