A 57-year-old man suffered injuries in a Saturday morning fire in Severn, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Lt. Jack Beall said that "heavy fire" was visible from the rear of a dwelling in the block of Myers Court when fire fighters arrived at 11:36 a.m. He said that after the fire was extinguished, the building was found to be not habitable and the Red Cross was called for assistance. He said the man had "serious but not life-threatening injuries." A 37-year-old female escaped uninjured. Beall said that cause of the fire was determined to be "illegal fireworks."
