Baltimore city police have identified a man who was shot and killed in West Baltimore Saturday as 20-year-old Darren Robertson.

Police said they found Robertson at about 5 p.m. Saturday lying on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the face in the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, on the border of the Heritage Crossing and Upton neighborhoods. Robertson was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead at about 5:30 p.m., police said.

Police said there was no suspect or motive in the shooting. Police said anyone with information is encouraged to contact detectives at 410-396-2100.

The shooting is the latest violent incident in the Heritage Crossing area, the former site of the Murphy Homes towers and a neighborhood not generally known for gun violence since it was revitalized with new low-income housing.

On Oct. 28, 53-year-old Eddie Nance was fatally stabbed in the 600 block of George St. after what police said was an argument over drugs. On Nov. 8, two 20-year-old men were shot in a robbery in the 800 block of Murphy Lane.
