The body of a swimmer who had gone missing at Patapsco State Valley Park on Friday was recovered on Saturday, officials said.

Baltimore County Fire Lt. Paul Massarelli said the man was last seen at about 3 p.m. while swimming near the dam. Family members searched unsuccessfully for about 30 minutes before notifying authorities. Would-be rescuers dived unsuccessfully for about three hours before calling off the search, which was resumed Saturday morning.

The man was identified as Alvaro L. Rivadineira Ordonez, 27, of Cheverly, by Maryland Department of Natural Resources police. DNR police said at 1:15 p.m. Saturday that the body had been found.

Massarelli said that it's likely that the man drowned. The case has been turned over to the Maryland Natural Resources Police Department.
