Anne Arundel County police provided more details Monday about a weekend incident where a boy and his aunt were attacked by the family's dogs.
Police responding to reports of a disturbance on the 3400 block of Barnsley Court entered the residence where the 7-year-old boy and his aunt were being attacked by two American Bulldogs outside the family's rear porch. Both dogs were shot, police said, including one who lunged at an officer.
Police said Anne Arundel County Animal Control later euthanized the dogs. The boy was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital in critical condition; his condition was upgraded to fair by Monday afternoon. His aunt, who suffered minor treatment, refused medical attention, police said.
Upon investigation, police found that the dogs were family pets, and initially they had attacked the boy inside the residence then attacked him again after the aunt grabbed him and went outside.
