U.S. 50 bridge reopens in Ocean City after being stuck upright for hours

After almost five hours of being stuck in the open position, the U.S. 50 drawbridge into Ocean City was reopened to vehicle traffic around 7:45 p.m. Saturday evening, although town officials said the bridge remained closed to boat traffic.

Mechanical problems led to the lengthy delay, state transportation officials said Saturday afternoon. Bridge engineers were on the scene but repairs are ongoing.

The State Highway Administration said it expected the bridge to reopen for boats by 10 p.m.
