WASHINGTON — Two service members were among the dozen moviegoers killed Friday in Aurora, Colo., military officials said.
Air Force Staff Sgt. Jesse Childress, 29, of Thornton, Colo., and Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class John Larimer, 27, of Crystal Lake, Ill., died in the attack at the Century 16 movie theater. Both were stationed at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora.
Another sailor and another airman were wounded in the shootings at the premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises." Both were treated and released.
Alleged gunman James Holmes remained in custody. Police say he carried an assault rifle, a shotgun and a handgun and wore full body armor during the attack, and rigged his apartment with explosives intended to detonate on entry.
The Pentagon said Friday that Holmes had never been a member of the armed forces.
