Howard County Police report that a man was injured and taken to Maryland Shock Trauma early Sunday following a single vehicle crash on Old Frederick Road at Route 32 in West Friendship.
According to police, the crash occurred at about 2:44 a.m., when a 1991 Toyota MR2 traveling west on Old Frederick Road failed to negotiate a curve, and the driver lost control. The Toyota slid off of the roadway and struck a BGE pole, police said.
The driver was identified as William Allen Buell, 30, of the 11000 block of Pleasant Walk Road, Myersville. He was transported to Shock Trauma Center and was listed in stable condition as of Sunday morning.
Police said the preliminary investigation revealed the driver was not wearing a seat belt. Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, though the investigation is continuing.
