A four-month-old boy in a car involved in a head-on collision in Jessup on Wednesday evening is in critical condition, according to Anne Arundel County Police in a statement on Thursday.
Officers responded to the collision in the area of Clark Road and Youse Avenue at approximately 6:05 p.m., police said. An initial investigation, police said, revealed that Matthew Dale Mitchell, 30, of Jessup, was driving a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan south on Clark Road when the vehicle crossed the double yellow center lines and struck a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse traveling in the opposite direction.
Police said Mitchell's four-month-old boy was sitting in the lap of a front seat passenger, Glen Scott Price, 29, of Jessup at the time of the collision and said that the child was not restrained in a child safety seat.
The child was transported to Johns Hopkins Children's Center with critical injuries, police said. Dale Mitchell also suffered injuries and is listed in stable condition, police said. Price was not injured, police said.
The driver of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Bethany Leanne Moore, 25, of Jessup is listed in stable condition, and a passenger in the car, Brian John Stohl, 26, of Jessup is also listed in stable condition.
Police said the primary cause of this crash is Mitchell's failure to drive right of center and added that speed does not appear to be a factor. The incident remains under investigation.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
