Police say a 3-year-old Glen Burnie boy lost part of his nose when he was bitten by a neighbor's dog.

According to Anne Arundel County police, officers responded at 6:34 p.m. Saturday to a call from the 200 block Glen Road, and found that a boy had been bitten by a neighbor's lab/terrier mix.

Police said the dog was confined in its own yard — also in the 200 block of Glen Road — at the time of the incident. Police said the child may have put his face under the fence through a hole when he was bitten by the dog. The child initially was transported by his parents to the Baltimore-Washington Medical Center, and was later transported to Johns Hopkins Pediatrics Trauma in Baltimore.

Fire department personnel located a portion of the child's nose that had been bitten off by the dog and brought it to the hospital.

Police said the owners of the dog cooperated with the inquiry and turned the dog over to Anne Arundel County Animal Control, which will conduct a further investigation into the incident, police said.
