Kevin Bales, whose age and address are not listed in court documents, was arrested and charged in a recent superseding indictment with participating in a racketeering conspiracy including murder for hire, extortion and drug dealing.
Authorities say Dead Man Inc. is an offshoot of the Black Guerilla Family gang that was formed for white inmates in Maryland prisons, and later spread into the streets and other states. Authorities from various Baltimore-area jurisdictions appeared at a news conference announcing the indictment last fall.
Prosecutors say in court papers that Bales was part of a group that took part in the September 2009 killing of Walter Milewski in Halethorpe, and he is also accused of dealing crack cocaine. Other gang members are accused in the indictment in a slew of other murders, robberies and assaults.
On April 11, Bales was ordered held pending a hearing.
