A Cumberland man pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to running a child pornography website, prosecutors said.

George Sell, 70, is guilty of conspiracy to transport child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.

From December 2006 through August 2008, Sell conspired with others to operate a website dedicated to trading child pornography images called the "Country Lounge," according to his plea agreement.

Website administrators, including Sell, approved new members to use the site, prosecutors said.

The website, hosted on servers in Virginia and Texas, was seized by law enforcement in October 2008, the statement said. Two months prior to the seizure, 142 members belonged to the website.

Sell, with others, took over the website from its former administrator and was the day-to-day manager of the site for nearly two years, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 25. The government and Sell have agreed that 10 years in prison is an appropriate sentence.

Another Maryland resident, Terry Lee Nolley, 47, of Silver Spring, pleaded guilty in October to being involved with the same website.
