The body of Daniel Cedillo, 28, was discovered in the 7600 block of Dunmanway behind Logan Elementary School in Dundalk by a school support employee around 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, police said. The cold that morning broke records, dropping to just 3 degrees at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, with sub-zero wind chills.
The medical examiner made a preliminary determination that hypothermia resulted in the death of Cedillo, of an unknown address in Baltimore, police said.
According to the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, six other people have died from the cold so far this winter in the state. Last winter, 30 people died of cold-related causes, according to DHMH.
In a separate incident around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, the body of another man was found by a passerby in Rocky Point Park in the 2200 block of Rocky Point Road in Essex. Police have said they do not suspect foul play in the case but have not yet said what caused his death.
Police identified the second man as Jason Andrew Meisenhalder, 40, of Middle River. Police said a ruling on the cause and manner of his death will be made by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner following an autopsy.
