The parade steps off at 6:30 p.m., beginning at Amos Garrett Boulevard and traveling down West Street and Main Street to City Dock.
The parade will be followed by a concert by the Naval Academy's Concert Band at Susan Campbell Park at 8 p.m. Fireworks over the water will begin at about 9:15 p.m.
The Spa Creek Bridge between downtown and Eastport will be closed to traffic at 9 p.m. to allow spectators to watch the show from the bridge.
Parking and boating will also be restricted around Annapolis. Visitors are encouraged to park at city-owned garages and take the free Circulator bus to City Dock. Visitors who park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium can also take a bus to downtown, but the cost is $2 each way or $4 for a day pass.
Highland Beach official honored
Raymond Langston, a longtime town official in the community of Highland Beach, has been inducted into the Maryland Municipal League's Hall of Fame.
Langston served as the town's mayor from 1995 to 2003 and is now a town commissioner. The league's hall of fame honors town and city officials who have more than 20 years of service, and Langston has served his community for 22 years total.
Highland Beach is a neighborhood south of Annapolis that bills itself as Maryland's first African-American incorporated town. It was founded in 1893 by Charles and Laura Douglass, who bought a 40-acre property on the Chesapeake Bay for a summer resort community. The town was incorporated in 1922.
The Maryland Municipal League is a trade and lobbying organization for Maryland's 157 municipal governments and two special taxing districts.
Military Bowl scheduled for December
Plans are already under way for the second Military Bowl, to be held in Annapolis in December.
The college football bowl game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 27 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.
The Military Bowl was held for the first time in Annapolis this past December, when 30,000 fans watched Marshall University beat the University of Maryland, 31-20. The bowl festivities included tailgate events and a parade from City Dock to the stadium before the game.
