The family fun pool at the Orokawa Family Center Y in Towson re-opened Monday after the Baltimore County Department of Health closed it Friday due to high chlorine levels.
Sara Milstein, chief marketing and development officer for the Y of Central Maryland, confirmed that the pool passed its inspection Monday morning.
“It’s certainly our hope and expectation that it’s going to remain open indefinitely,” she said.
The saltwater family fun pool and the saltwater lap pool at the $13 million facility have both been closed and reopened several times since the center opened last month, officials said in a letter to members Friday.
Y officials said the closures stem from an interpretation of a state code by county inspectors that is difficult for saltwater pools to comply with.
