Person hit at intersection of traffic calming improvements in Rodgers Forge

A construction worker was struck by a 2013 Honda CRV Friday morning at Stevenson Lane and Stanmore Road in Rodgers Forge and was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center for life-threatening injuries, Baltimore County Police said.

Police and fire officers were dispatched to the scene at 10:15 a.m., police said.

The man struck was a construction worker for Olney Masonry Corporation and was wearing a hard hat and reflective vest, according to police.

He was standing on westbound Stevenson Lane directing traffic through a construction zone using a stop sign, police said.

The Baltimore County Department of Public Works is constructing traffic calming improvements at the intersection where the man was hit.

Police said the man was holding up the stop sign to stop westbound traffic on Stevenson Lane with his back to westbound traffic when a car traveling west on the road failed to stop and hit him.

The car remained at the scene, police said.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Team is investigating the incident.
