Balto. Co. Police to hold first 'tweet-along' Tuesday in Towson

Baltimore County Police are holding its first ever “tweet-along” Tuesday night, consisting of a virtual ride-along through the Towson precinct with constant updates on the department’s Twitter account.

Cpl. Cathy Batton, a police spokeswoman, will ride along with Officer Daniel Jonas of the Towson precinct from 7 to 10 p.m. in downtown Towson and the area that surrounds Towson University.

Batton will tweet out updates at the using the hashtag #tweetalong.

According to a county police news release, “tweet-alongs are increasingly popular with law enforcement agencies as a way to heighten community awareness of how police officers work and the kinds of calls they deal with, day in and day out.”

The Towson precinct has seen heightened patrols in the areas Batton will tweet from in the last week after a rash of street assaults and robberies.
