A half dozen trees along Chesapeake Avenue west of York Road in Towson will be removed Saturday, Baltimore County announced Friday.
According to a county news release, the trees are all storm damaged and were scheduled to be removed in the spring, but a property owner requested they be taken down immediately to prevent further damage.
The trees will be removed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, the county said.
The set of trees were already slated for removal as part of a streetscaping project spearheaded by the county and Towson Chamber of Commerce.
New curbs and gutters, planters, sidewalks, and improved lighting will be a part of the new streetscape, which the county said will mirror that of Allegheny Avenue.
"Improvements to Chesapeake Avenue, estimated to cost $250,000, are part of our commitment to enhancing Towson's positive business environment," County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a statement.
County Councilman David Marks, who represents Towson, said the council passed the budget that funds the streetscaping, and he's happy to support the project.
