Seven Towson-area neighborhoods will be targeted for rat eradication sweeps this summer, according to Fifth District County Councilman David Marks.
Marks said Ridgeleigh, Hillendale, Knettishall, Ridgely Oaks, Loch Raven Village, Towson Manor Village, and parts of Towson Park will be targeted for the sweeps, which begin at the end of July.
"One of the most frequent complaints we receive is about the presence of rats, particularly in older neighborhoods," Marks said Thursday in a statement. "Eliminating rats and other pests can improve public safety and our quality of life.
He said signs will be posted in affected areas with instructions on how homeowners can prepare for the sweeps.
Marks praised County Executive Kevin Kamenetz for backing the rat eradication program — and specifically Larry Simmons and Nancy Surosky — the county executive's liaisons in the neighborhoods affected.
"I would also like to thank the Department of Permits, Approvals, and Inspections and Code Enforcement for its hard work and attention," he said.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
