Towson Winterfest's Fire and Ice event postponed to Dec. 14

The Towson Chamber of Commerce said Friday that the Fire and Ice holiday event, which had been scheduled for today, Dec. 7, has been rescheduled to Friday, Dec. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The postponement is due to rain scheduled for today, said Nancy Hafford, executive director of the Towson Chamber, who noted in an email that rain is, "Not good for ice and not good for the people doing the fire pits."

Fire and Ice is part of the annual Winterfest celebration, and involves placement of several ice sculptures around downtown Towson, as well as fire pits where guests can snack on smore’s. Also this year, the bakery, La Cakerie, will hand out desserts and hot chocolate.

While Fire and Ice is delayed, other events scheduled for this weekend are on track, according to the chamber.

On Saturday, Dec. 8, Breakfast with the Grinch at Souris Saloon, 537 York Road, will be held, starting at 9am. Around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Santa’s Workshop at 1 Joppa Road will open, where Santa will make a special appearance through 11:30 a.m.
