Art show and silent auction for Towson High lymphoma patient set for Friday

Holding up the Sky, a fundraiser for Towson High student Sky Campbell will be held from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. on Friday, June 14 at the grand opening of Gallery 788's new location near Belvedere Square.

Sky,  a 14-year-old West Towson resident, has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment — having at least a seventh round of the cancer-fighting drug since being diagnosed with primary mediastinal b-cell lymphoma, a form of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, on Dec. 3, 2012 — at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Having played five years in various age groups for Kelly Post girls lacrosse, Sky was excited about trying out for the Towson High team in her freshman year.

Instead, she has been fighting the disease while family and friends rally around her.

For a suggested $10 donation at the door, event goers will be treated to an art show and silent auction at the site 5716 York Rd. site.

There will also be live music featuring Fatally Yours, Mark Richey and Adverse Attraction. Works by local artists Matt Cippollone, Dara Lorenzo, Chris Kelleher, Remy Perez and others will be on display.

"We have over 30 pieces of donated artwork from local artists, live music, and have lots of donated items to raffle, including Orioles tickets," said Sky's mom, Anna Boyle.
