As Baltimore County was experiencing the worst of Superstorm Sandy late Monday night into early Tuesday morning, Baltimore County Police said a Towson liquor store was robbed of approximately $4,000 worth of liquor and cigarettes.
According to a police summary of the incident, the Liquor Mart in the 800 block of Taylor Avenue in Towson was robbed between 11 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29 and 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30.
The burglar, for whom no description was provided, smashed the glass door of the store and reached in to grab the haul, police spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher said.
Rogers-Feher said the employee who called in the burglary reported that several packs of Black and Mild cigars were on the ground outside, and police observed that the burglar reached in through the broken door to steal cartons of cigarettes and bottles of liquor.
No cash was taken during the burglary, though Rogers-Feher said $700 worth of damage was done to the glass door.
