A new Patient First medical center opened Wednesday on York Road in Towson, ending a protracted planning and construction process and providing urgent and primary care in northern Towson.

The clinic, which will feature urgent care, primary care, digital x-rays, and lab work, will be open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the year.

"The goal of Patient First is to provide convenient, cost-effective medical care on a walk-in basis," R.P. Sowers, founder and CEO of Patient First, said in a statement. "At the same time, our physicians and staff always work closely and in a collaborative fashion with the area's existing medical community to provide care."

Discussions about the project, which stands at the site of the old Towson Washmobile in the 900 block of York Road, began in late 2011.

Patient First needed a pair of property easements from Baltimore County Public Schools for use of adjacent land on the Carver Center for Arts and Technology site. As part of the agreement, the developer of Patient First paid for improvements and widening of the school's driveway off York Road in exchange for use of the entrance road.

BCPS received $22,250 for a second easement on the north side of the Patient First property.
