Towson neighborhoods will participate in National Night Out with a rally and parade Tuesday, Aug. 5.
Baltimore County Police and the Towson Area Citizens On Patrol (TACOP) will host the annual crime prevention observation.
National Night Out, celebrated around the country on the first Tuesday of August, will begin with a rally at 5:30 p.m. at Towson Marketplace, in front of Michael's on Putty Hill Road.
Following the rally, a parade, featuring a police-escorted motorcade, will drive through Towson's 25 Citizens on Patrol neighborhoods.
Residents are asked to turn on their lights, walk their streets and cheer the motorcade that evening, according to a TACOP press release.
In addition, the press release urges attendees to bring two or three non-perishable food items or travel size toiletries to the rally. These will be donated to the Assistance Center of Churches to help Towson's needy residents.
